New Leadership Brings in Different Style Camp. Holland, MI The West Ottawa Wrestling team coaching staff and wrestlers will be hosting its annual wrestling camps this summer June 13 to 16 at West Ottawa High School. First is the Youth Camp, which is geared towards all youth wrestlers, regardless of experience or ability levels from 2nd grade to 6th grade. The second camp is more of an advanced camp for more of our serious and dedicated wrestlers from 7th to 12th grade. Wrestlers are split into two sessions with 2nd-6th going from 10:30am-12:30pm and 7th-12th graders being held from 12:30pm-2:30pm. The morning session of camp will be an introductory in nature. Head Coach Ryan Lancaster and his staff, along with current varsity wrestlers, will run every session, teaching the fundamental skills and drills for wrestling that are taught by at the High School level."Using practices implemented by other countries like Russia, our youth program is a unique experience," said Lancaster."Keeping the sport fun will ensure these kids will continue to grow in the program." The older session will be lead by several clinician brought in that have competed on the international stage."It's great to get other coaches and wrestler buying into your system as well, " Lancaster went on." These high level clinicians mirror the needs of our program; instruction that prepares us to wrestle the best." The Clinicians this year are: Tyler Brenner- State Champion Jake Bohn- World Medalist The cost for the 4 day camp is $25 for the 2nd to 6th grade group and $45 for the 7 to 12 grade group.
