Holland, MI WEST OTTAWA MIDDLE SCHOOL DUALS West Ottawa Middle School team went 4-1 at their annual duals. They defeated Holland 52-34, B-Squad 71-20, Grand Haven 45-42, before dropping a loss to Grandville-Maroon 27-67. The Panthers rallied their final round to defeat Grandville-White on the 3rd criteria. Grandville-Maroon went on to defeat Hudsonvile-Baldwin 69-27 in the final. 4 of our wrestlers went 5-0 on the day. The middle school team is currently 7-3 on the year. The Panthers had a great showing, with multiple placers.For the second year in a row, the Little Panthers have won their annual invitational. Lead by 7 champions, the Panthers narrowly defeated the flourishing Holland Youth program, who came in second. Over all, 26 of our youth wrestlers competed in our home gym and set the pace of our program, While it was a fundraiser for both West Ottawa and Myrmidon programs, a portion also went to Pinning Down Autism, a charitable organization whose mission is to respond and address the immediate needs of children and their families within our local communities that are affected by autism and to promote education and awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder’s. We also donated to another important organization in the wrestling: Pin Cancer. Pin Cancer is a registered 501(c)3 charity. All their proceeds go to building awareness on all types of cancer as well as research initiatives at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. $37.00 was donated to Pinning Down Autism. Myrmidon and West Ottawa have raised $889.00 for this charity since 2016. $37.00 was donated to Pin Cancer. Myrmidon and West Ottawa have raised $114.00 for this charity since 2017.
