Panthers Release 2015-2016 Schedule

HOLLAND, MI

West Ottawa released it's official varsity and junior varsity schedule for the 2015-2016 season this week. There are a few changes from last year that are worth mentioning. Much like last year, the Panthers will be tested early and often with one of the most challenging schedules in the state.

West Ottawa is currently unranked on Michigan Grappler’s Division 1 Pre-Season Rankings, but are slated to compete against several top ten programs, So of these include #5 Grandville, #2 St Johns, #3 Allegan, #5 Gaylord (D2), #10 Stevensville Lakeshore, #3 Grand Rapids CC (D3),and  #8 Pine River.

"Ultimately to be the best we have to compete with the best." said Coach Ryan Lancaster.  “The goal is to build a program over the next several years that will be making not just a splash in the state, but the country as a whole." Lancaster also went on to describe the shifts in the schedule." We hope to phase out most of our individual tournaments from the schedule over the next few years. We aim to focus on dual team tournaments, as that will provide more match ups for our athletes and better prepare them for when the state finals roll around. West Ottawa has historically had very strong individuals, and we as a coaching staff  hope to build the strongest team as a whole as he can."

This year, the Panthers will open up with two scrimmages to their season. The first being the Black n' White Night, which will be an inter-squad dual to determine the varsity line-up. The next will be at home in the very first Battle for the bridge, a scrimmage against rival school Holland High on December 5th..
