Panthers Excel on the mat at all levels this weekend

It was a successful weekend for West Ottawa wrestlers new and old. Two Panther wrestlers excelled on the mats this weekend at the 2015 Borderwars National Tournament held in Kellogg Arena. 2nd grader and Little Panther wrestler Trace "the Nightmare" Lopez went 1-2 against some rather tough wrestlers. Ethan Curtin ('16) wrestled well walking away 4-1 and placing as runner-up. Not to mention noted alumni Ramon Correa ('15) won his very first college level tournament at Trine University in Angola, Indiana this weekend wrestling as a Muskegon Community College Jayhawk. 

Hear are some reminders for the week:

• Physicals and insurance needs to be on file with the athletic office before you can practice. So far I only have 6 wrestlers that have paid their $40. Please get that to me ASAP.
• We will be having a parent meeting/wrestling meeting on Nov. 18th in the North building cafeteria at 6:30pm. Please bring a dish to pass (Freshman & Sophomores: Fruit, vegetable &/or Dessert. Juniors & Seniors: Pasta, salad &/or Main Dish. Water will be provided). We will be going over team expectations and get to meet our new coaching staff. 
• Wrestlers will attend a mandatory nutrition meeting on Thursday November 19th at 3pm in the LGI room.
• Our Alpha Weigh-in will be held November 23rd during practice. Please bring $5 to cover the cost of the test. Contact me with more questions.
• Little Panthers begins Nov. 16th right after our practice. We will need volunteers for Coach Mario to help run practices. Contact me or him for more details.
• Just a reminder two dates have switch on our schedule: The Battle for the Bridge will be on December 2nd and the Black n' White Night will be on Saturday December 5th. Please adjust your schedules.
