HOLLAND, MI- West Ottawa wrestling is continuing to grow and the youth and now middle school level. Many new changes are happening this year, including new coaches and an expanded roster. For the first time, 6th graders will be able to compete at the middle school level. This will give them a huge advantage against other tams as we will get an additional year of training under our belt. Additionally, with Coach Sarli departing for the varsity level, the middle school program will be adding a brand new staff. Promoted to head coach will be last year assistant Gage Keene and his assistant will Anthony Inthavong. After suffering a career ending injury his senior year, Gage Keene had all but retired from the sport of wrestling. Instead of hanging up his shoes completely, Keene has added a new smash-mouth style of wrestling to the Panthers. Though it was a clipped short career, Keene was an OK Red Conference champ, a district champ, as well as a state qualifier his junior year. The Panthers have much to learn from his aggressive yet poised style that aided him in his prep career. Anthony is a skilled technician that has competed on the national stage. He is skill instructor and has a wealth of knowledge.
